Social Forum in Dakar

World Social Forum in Dakar - 6-11 February 2011
We were two representatives from the Network's Antenna France Africa Europe Faith and Justice to attend the tenth annual World Social Forum. (WSF) brought together in a large university in Dakar more than 40,000 participants from 123 countries and thousands of Senegalese students. Simultaneously other gatherings were held by the Forum of the theology of liberation. The latter was in perfect harmony with the WSF. The introductory text we said at the outset the objectives. "If you do remove the yoke from your country, the gesture of threat, the speaking of evil ... your light will rise in darkness ..." in Isaiah 58. Theme echoed by Cardinal Sarr Dakar calling us to be "salt of the earth, light of the world."
From the beginning we were at the heart of the concerns of the WSF was intended, in an African context, addressing the global situation and the current crises. To establish convergence, facilitating meetings between the movements of various kinds and different regions of the world have been implemented during these debates, discussions, and sharing testimonies. The rally was marked by a citizen of solidarity with the world. The partners of various NGOs including Caritas and CCFD well fortified concrete all these meetings.
Companies quantity represented by civil associations and NGOs have demonstrated their ability to formulate alternative proposals against neoliberalism and its excesses. We noted a very active participation of Africans came in numbers to point their difficulties and political consequences of undermining the development of their country.
There were many themes, migration, food sovereignty and land grabbing, the G8 - G20, education, health, France Africa, debt, mineral wealth, the issue of women, trade weapons etc.. . We
are more involved on the issue of land grabbing, particularly in Africa. This expansion process is a major threat to food security for millions of people. Several international networks and solidarity organizations have appealed for an end to massive transfers of land. Our network is involved for several months in the country "Private land, private future."
Migration has been a meeting on the island of Goree and the finalization of a "Charted migrants" who was adopted. This island near Dakar is infamous having been the starting point for thousands of slaves to the Americas.
The WSF has also expanded to the mobilization of financial regulation and the fight against tax havens. A call to the next G20 meeting in Cannes on 3-4 November was discussed and adopted. This G20 has our full attention during this year 2011 because France in the chair. We find that many proposals from the current anti-globalization proponents of the first WSF, are the agenda of the G20 as the taxation of financial transactions and the regulation of agricultural markets Hopefully they are actually being implemented. WSF participants wanted an international mobilization to mark the meeting of the twenty largest world powers, for the one hundred seventy-two (192-20) other countries are heard.
One afternoon was devoted to a meeting proposed by the Secretariat AEFJN (Europa Africa Faith and Justice Network) in Brussels. One hundred participants, mostly nuns and religious in Africa have expressed interest in our work. A wish was expressed to network religious in every country in Africa for common actions locally adapted. This time was also an opportunity for us good meetings with members of these congregations French in Dakar. During the WSF
we found well in phase with a number of topics, since they are the ones that we find in the different formats that include French agencies with whom we work for justice between Europe and Africa .
I thank the friends of the Faith and Justice Network who provided valuable feedback forum that I share with you. If you have other evidence do know the Sr Eliane
